Stress & Wellness Assessment based on R-R intervals variability analysis during one simple protocol combined Lying-to-Standing test and Deep Breathing.
STRESS AND WELLNESS ASSESSMENT
When we are talking about Stress we simple mention about increasing Heart Rate and adrenal activity, which is usually normal physiological activity, but real clinical stress (Distress by Hans Selye – former director Canadian Institute of Stress ) associated with some pathological condition or even Fear.
The difference between Normal physiological Stress and Distress ( by Hans Selye ) is Parasympathetic activity level. In case of Normal Physiological Stress – Parasympathetic (PSNS ) activity is positive means increased, but in case of Clinical Stress – Negative, means decreased.
High Clinical Stress affect immune system and decrease it’s functioning, as result this is the Risk to be affected by any viruses.
This test is based on analysis of R-R intervals Variability during combined protocol of Supine, Upright and Sitting positions with Deep Breathing.
After the first part of this protocol – changes from Supine to Upright position – Fitness Score and current stress and wellness levels are assessed. In some cases during first part of this test, there is possible to see some interpretations.
NOTE: Test interpretation is not meant to diagnose, treat or cure any medical or medically-related problems. There is mostly physiological conclusion.
The Second part of this protocol – analysis of changes between Normal Breathing (Supine position) and Deep Breathing (Sitting position) – can recognize the reserve of Autonomic function and ability to reduce Stress level. For instance on the first screen below, when person Stand-Up (Green point ) it’s came almost to the red zone ( High Stress Zone ), but the 2nd screen shown great reserve this person with the Parasympathetic function, which means this person can easy compensate such Stress by Parasympathetic ability.
Stress and Wellness assessment test is based on analysis of R-R intervals Variability using two different protocols. The first protocol compares analysis between normal and deep breathing to identify a range of Autonomic Nervous System activity levels and receptor sensitivity as well as ANS capacity. This protocol can be done either sitting or lying down. The second protocol requires a laying-to-standing test and is a more direct measure of current stress and wellness levels. In some cases, there is additional possibility to see over adrenals activation during stand-up and sometimes individual psycho-emotional markers such as introversion (Introvert- is the person who looks inside, extravert – outside, means normal). Also, there is a possibility to recognize vagal dysfunction which is a very important issue, because it’s related to Gastrointestinal system dysfunction and some time with brain deregulations.
NOTE: Such interpretation is not a medical, just physiological.
Both protocols complement each other.
– Green zone is positive wellness levels:
- 0 – Average wellness
- 1 – Slightly increased
- 2 – Moderately increased
- 3 – Significantly increased
- 4 – Sharply increased
NOTE: Different levels of adrenal activity in green zone is normal Physiology Functioning.
– Yellow zone is negative wellness levels:
- 1 – Slightly decreased
- 2 – Moderately decreased
- 3 – Significantly decreased
- 4 – Sharply decreased
– Red zone is the highest stress
– Black zone is very low adrenal activity – usually related to elderly people.
Fitness Score assessment based on Spectral analysis during lying-to-standing test combined with Deep Breathing. Represented as a point on a 2-dimensional graph with 7 levels of Adaptability and 13 levels of Wellness.
